1. a) Who
is the sanctioning body for the
Spring Valley Tournament?
1. b) Who is the sponsoring body for
the Spring Valley Tournament?
a.) The Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) is the sanctioning body for
this tournament as well as all other tournaments on the MWC
fishing circuit. Spring Valley is the first stop on the MWC
Tournament schedule. The MWC is financially supported by
manufactures of fishing equipment such as: Lindy Little Joe,
Berkley/Trilene, Quantum-MotorGuide, Ranger Boats, Willie
Products, Mercury Marine Outboards, and Cabela's.
b.) The Spring Valley Walleye Club is the local sponsor. We are
responsible for the daily events and organization of the Spring
Valley Tournament. Each year over 200 local people volunteer
their time and effort to make our event a success. We have 8
major work crews and each crew has a leader. Each person who
volunteers usually works a shift that lasts for only 2 hours. If
you would like to help out please call Bill Guerrini at
815-663-6141.
2. What is the SPRING
VALLEY WALLEYE CLUB, Inc.?
The Spring Valley Walleye Club, Inc. was founded in 1990 by a
group of local fisherman interested in preserving and promoting
the walleye and sauger fishery of the Illinois River. These
fishermen had run the Spring Valley / MWC tournament the previous
three years ('87,'88,'89) for the local business community.
The stated purpose of the SVWC is the protection and
conservation of the Illinois River and the wildlife therein. All
proceeds from the annual MWC tournament (as well as all other
projects) go right back into the Illinois River fish (sauger)
stocking program.
Two (2) annual Spring Valley Walleye Club donations: .
- Illinois DNR fish stocking program = $5,000.00.
- Hall Township = $3,500 dredging fund*
*By making the $3,500.00 Hall Township annual donation the
SVWC keeps the usage at Barto Landing free for everyone
by offsetting the townships need to charge a "user fee".
Annual dues is $5.00
3. When is the $5.00 SVWC
dues due and do I have to be a fisherman to join?
The annual $5.00 membership dues can be paid anytime from
January 1st to November 1st.
ANYONE can be a member of the SVWC. Many of our members
are not fishermen. They are just everyday people interested in
helping us help the river system.
You can reach the SVWC by calling BILL GUERRINI (Exec.
Director) at his office..........
